The effect of the periodontal disease is that it can reduce the support for the teeth and bone loss as well. There is a periodontal pocket since there will be space between the gum and tooth.
If a person has normal health then it is expected that he will have a measurement of his gum and tooth that is between 3 mm or even less. The periodontal pocket can range from 4 mm to 12 mm or even more. It is as a matter of fact virtually impossible to have the bacteria removed due to the periodontal pocket. The bacteria can actually thrive and live in this kind of environment.
